Welcome to NAS 2024!

Main theme: paediatric audiology

This conference is arranged by the Nordic Audiological Society (NAS) and has focus on paediatric
audiology. On behalf of the local organizing committee and the scientific programme group I have
the honour to welcome you to the NAS2024 conference in Örebro, Sweden.

This is the fourth time a NAS conference is arranged with a paediatric main theme, and the third time
in Örebro, the latest having been for ten years ago (BARNAS2012). Our goal is to provide a scientific
programme that presents current highlights and the state of art in the field of paediatric audiology.
The main topics are cochlear implants, unilateral hearing loss, congenital Cytomegalovirus infection –
state of art, children with neuropsychiatric diagnoses, family-centered intervention and
multilingualism and hearing. In addition, topics such as genetics and diagnostic methods will be
discussed.

We are happy to introduce distinguished keynote speakers as well as rising stars with the goal of
providing both Nordic and international expertise on topics that are of interest to a broad audience.
In addition to oral presentations our ambition is to provide an interesting poster session that will be
easy to access and close to the exhibition area. We welcome abstracts that cover medical, technical,
pedagogical, psycho-social and vestibular topics related to paediatric audiology, including clinical and
pre-clinical work.

We welcome our sponsors and exhibitors whose contributions are valuable to make the conference a
success. A warm welcome to all conference delegates. We will start with a welcome reception in the
evening on May 26 th and the scientific programme starts next morning. I’m sure we all look forward
to inspiring presentations and discussions that will contribute to professional development. In
addition to an interesting and high- quality scientific programme, our goal is to create a stimulating
atmosphere with possibilities to social interaction, including conference dinner on May 28 th .
